Hmmm: Seems that if a populace ready to oust their ruler is armed -ie libya it can get a good start, but if the regime has military weapons AND soldiers that will use them they are still effed unless a powerful outside nation takes their side.
For an unarmed populace (ie Iran Egypt) things are entirely dependent on military/security forces. In Egypt the military seems to have stepped in and prevented the police from crushing protests with force. In Iran the mullahs brought in special security units from different areas to use brutal force against the people and the regulars stayed on the sidelines. They learned from how the Shah lost and have not forgotten.
If Barry cancels elections or refuses to step down after losing we have a well armed population but would still need the military to be against him. I would hope the fact that they take an oath to defend the constitution, would make any such nonsense from Barry a Honduras type situation.
