Winter blahs are in full force

I have not even wanted to ride the last few weekends.  Weather has not been nice like it was spring but was nice enough that if I'd had cabin fever I'd have mounted up.  It scares me a bit when I don't get cabin fever after not riding for 2-3 weeks that I might lose my love of riding entirely.  But I did remember this morning that I was similarly not inclined to squeeze in winter riding last year when the days were still short but I took advantage of Tanzaknights natural ability and jumped back up to 50s this summer.   So I won't force myself to ride or worry unduly about losing my passion.  I've always liked to become more of a bookworm in the winter months, and in ND it would have been darned tough to ride Dec-Feb.

I have been being little miss frugality lately.  I bought some Shoe goop to fix snow boots that had the outer shell cracking after just 1 year, but decided to buy 3 tubes and go to town fixing on older pac boots that have issues and trying an experiment to patch the tops of my Boggs mud clogs.   The clogs are still in great shape except that the neoprene tops had split and they would fall off my feet so I took some old pants and glued some patches over the tops.  I'll see if this works out and if it does restore the 2nd pair of Boggs I have.

OTOH I just went in 50/50 with my sister on a 20K bobcat.   She is having a rough winter up in ND, getting snowed in and unable to get round bales to the horses and was just tired of it.  She would have gotten the full thing on a loan but I didn't want her to take on that much payments and I am thinking that maybe I'll get her and B to come to my place in WY with it and I can get a good trailer parking and turnaround area set up and some fencing so I can at least camp there more easily.  At least I hope this thing will be able to move enough dirt and rock for that to happen.   Also I think it will be something that B can do as a little business, hopefully operating the skidsteer is not too hard on his injured wrist and it would be something he could do so he isn't crazy restless but would not have to spend more hours than his wrist and back will handle.

I did buy myself a new cooking gadget too.  Its a meat thermometer with a cable so you can leave the probe in the meat while its in the oven or on the grill and see the temp as it rises.  I decided having spent all that $$ on the buffalo I want to enjoy the meat from it and not be kicking myself and dad for over cooking it when we cook the steaks.   I tried it on a 13 yr old deer loin steak last night and it worked and the steak was tasty in spite of being more of a red color than I would normally eat.  Dad had eaten in town so Boots the cat and Mia dog got to feast on the other half of the steak.

What I need to do in near future is make another push to claim more space for myself.  I have got to find a donation bin and get Mom's shoes out of the porch.  They are in fine shape but my shoe size is 2 sizes bigger so its crazy that I have let those things eat precious space for over 4 years.

The liberals and especially the media are driving me crazy with their denial that Trump won fair and square and will probably pull the economy out of the doldrums, which will likely save the gub'mint research and 'aid to the poor' programs that actually do anything halfway useful.    Having a very senior citizen dad who watches that crap for hours everyday is just UGH.   I don't know how he can stand to listen to all the drivel, but at least he doesn't fall for Republicans are evil BS.  I guess I can thank the NRA for that.
